Club Affiliations and Benefits

We are affiliated to the Mountaineering Scotland which provides each member with a quarterly magazine, The Scottish Mountaineer, and third party insurance cover on all club activities. Our affiliation gives us access to huts controlled by Mountaineering Scotland and by other affiliated clubs, reduced fees for professionally run courses (eg at the Glenmore Lodge Scottish National Outdoor Training Centre), access to certain areas (eg Glen Strathfarrar in winter) not otherwise available, and input to the Scottish Executive on sport and access matters through the advisory role of Mountaineering Scotland.

Our other affiliations are to the Scottish Rights of Way and Access Society which is dedicated to defending, preserving, signposting, recording, and improving public access to the Scottish countryside, the Mountain Bothies Association, which maintains simple open bothies in remote locations, and the John Muir Trust which is the UK's leading wild land conservation charity. These organisations provide us with interesting and valuable information which is available to members through the Secretary.
