Winter Climbing |
Some club members are keen winter climbers. Many of the best rock-climbing areas such as Glencoe and Ben Nevis have good winter routes too, but in addition there are further areas like Creag Meagaidh which are too loose for good rock-climbing. Winter climbing is very dependent on snow and ice conditions and good judgement and proper equipment are even more vital than in rock-climbing. Any avalanche hazard must be assessed as well as the difficulties of the route itself.
