Rock Climbing with PHC

If you are already a competent climber you can most easily meet fellow-climbers in the Club by coming to the Bull. Most climbing is privately arranged. There are local outcrops and quarries suitable for summer evenings. Areas like Arrochar and Glencoe which have mountain crags with routes of all standards, are within day-trip range.

Many hut weekends are within easy reach of excellent climbing. Skye, Ben Nevis and the Cairngorms are examples. For beginners and those just wanting some practice or fun, we arrange a 'pre-Skye' evening at Neilston Quarry. The quarry (15m drive from Paisley) has short routes of a range of standards on sound rock. Experienced members will give you a 'top-rope' and teach you to abseil in safety. Aspects of climbing and belaying techniques can be learned here.
