Who are we and what do we do?

Paisley Hillwalking Club is one of Scotland's biggest and friendliest outdoor clubs.

We have around 100 members. Their ages range from 15 to over 70. Some are complete beginners, others are seasoned climbers with Alpine experience. We have students, teachers, postmen, engineers, nurses, salespersons, and those just resting. We have Mums Dads and grandparents. We have drinkers, teetotallers, vegetarians and rabid carnivores. We even have a few smokers. We are non-ageist non-sexist non-sectarian and non-political.

So are we for everyone and everything? No!
We are against staying indoors when there are hills to climb. There are an awful lot of
hills in Scotland and a lot more ways of getting up (and down) them. All of us are into hillwalking and many of us also do rock climbing and winter climbing.

And we are also against unlawful and unreasonable access restrictions, as reflected by our affiliated organisations.

We don't organise walks or climbs but we do arrange trips and accommodation (Sunday bus trips and weekend hut bookings) and suggest hills or ranges you might like to try. If you are a beginner we will look for suitable companions for you.

We also organise a programme of Tuesday evening events, and occasionally other social events. You can always find a number of us at The Bull on Tuesday nights.

*Note for non-Scots: Scots are apt to call anything from a pimple to Everest a 'hill' so don't be mislead!
